Badlands National Park

    An ever changing artist's canvas, Badlands National Park in South Dakota is a surreal landscape of stone and light. Colored eroded buttes and pinnacles blend seamlessly with the prairie. Striking geologic deposits hide one of the world’s richest fossil beds, secreting evidence of the ancient horses and rhinos that once roamed here. The Lakota gave this land its name, “Mako Sika,” meaning “land bad.” However, after just one visit, it grows clear that the Badlands are truly “good lands,” good for photography, exploration, astronomy, paleontology, and much more.
