Eastern Point Lighthouse
For over 100 years, the fishermen of Gloucester have been guided back to their home port by the Eastern Point Lighthouse. The present tower was built in 1890 to mark the entrance to the harbor. Though it was automated in September 1985 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987, the Eastern Point Lighthouse still plays a valuable role in Gloucester. It was featured in the iconic movie The Perfect Storm and it continues to serve as a symbol of Gloucester's connection to the ocean.
