Broadway at the Beach

Easily the most popular tourist attraction on Myrtle Beach, Broadway at the Beach has everything that its advertisements promise: restaurants, shopping, shows, touristy museums and experiences, live music, and festival vibe. Although Myrtle Beach itself first became a tourist mecca in 1908, Broadway at the Beach opened in 1995 and quickly rose to fame as a major attraction. Now, around 14 million people visit it every year. Unlike many other places centered on commercialism, Broadway at the Beach somehow manages to avoid the familiar trap of feeling entirely contrived. The streets are wide and studded with palmettos. Fruit stands, while inauthentic, give a tropical undertone without shoving it into your face. There are catfish in the water, seagulls in the sky, oddities in the buildings, and happy people on the streets. With so much to do and so much to see, Broadway at the Beach's fame is easy to understand.
